Job Description Summary:

To support the Industrial Operations & OEM Business team in the Legal Affairs Dept. at Nissan Automotive Europe SAS, with geographic responsibility for Europe. In particular, to provide commercially-minded legal support including advice, training and the drafting, review and negotiation of various types of agreements, primarily manufacturing and project-related. The position plays a key part in significant projects with Nissan’s Alliance partners (Renault/Mitsubishi) and liaison with Nissan’s global HQ in Japan and affiliates across Europe and globally.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

In cooperation with and supporting the team’s Senior Counsel based in Switzerland and Deputy General Counsel in the UK:

Provide legal advice and support to the business – including primarily for manufacturing-related projects and matters, as well as for strategic collaborations, specific projects and intragroup transactions (the “Legal Expertise Area”) Draft, review, and support the negotiation of a wide range of agreements and documents in the Legal Expertise Area – including among others, those relating to project investment, product development, manufacturing and supply, technical assistance, licensing and the provision of services Manage multiple projects from a legal support and advice perspective in the Legal Expertise Area, including to support the resolution of claims, template development and driving initiatives aimed at efficiency and process improvement Work closely with and managing external counsel in line with the legal team’s practices and allocated budget Prepare and deliver engaging legal training modules, actively lead and participate in legal workshops and know-how sharing and development groups Build and develop collaborative relationships with key clients internally, within the legal team regionally and globally, and with Alliance partner colleagues Support the Deputy General Counsel and the Senior Counsel in all other activities as and when required

Keys to success in this position are:

Outstanding communicator with a particular emphasis on legal drafting skills in English (, ability to quickly prepare and revise a variety of documents from scratch and from templates) and the ability to explain complex issues simply and effectively Ability to provide pragmatic, business solution-oriented and persuasive legal advice Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time carefully, working autonomously and in teams Interest in the automotive industry generally, and developing vital networks partnering closely with colleagues and others

Education & Experience:

Masters in Law or other equivalent advanced law degree, with a strong academic record

Skills & Attributes:

English fluency (native or effectively native); French not essential but an advantage Exceptional contract drafting, review and negotiation skills Key traits: resilience, curiosity, collaborative, pragmatic, innovative and use of initiative
